The whole month of September, ANGEL Gallery in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, will feature the Coeur d'Alene Art Association as Featured Artist. Yes, we'll be out and about again.  My friend and fellow-artist, Jackie Jewett, is usually a part of our association plein air group. My January project has crept over into February. A week's trip to Oklahoma postponed finishing the Richard Schmid color charts. I have two more colors to do, cobalt and ultramarine blues. My friend had a snapshot of her sweet little baby in a pajama outfit.She brought a dress on a hanger that had belonged to Laurel's aunt as a baby. Two plein airs done in the last month or so. On the left was at the channel on Blackwell Island on a cold, rainy morning, looking back at the bridge over I-95. Recently, my daughter gave me a photo that I absolutely had to paint. The same child in the teenage dance dress below along with my grandson were just toddlers in a stroller. After a long day at the park, they were done in. I opened up my pastels and it was done in two days. I love it. Two cherubs. Some things I agonize over, but others just flow - like this one.

From the beginning of summer into October, our plein air group has had wonderful places to paint. One of my favorite was at a Bayview dock on Lake Pend O'Reille. I've included a small painting done that day. The lessons learned and the essential practicing of a quick capture are great as well as the camaraderie of the painters.

Her clothing and hair were changed (when I was a child I could see myself as a harpist, but I settled for the piano.) So, I gave her my hair as it looked sometimes when I was a young girl.

8" x 10" Pastel One of a series of florals named for my granddaughters, this one is named for Abigail Rose. My neighbor has a huge Rose Mallow tree with dinner-plate sized blossoms and I had to paint this glorious flower. I may paint a larger painting later of more than one. They are simply grand.

One early morning, as my husband fished, I snapped the rising cloud as it lifted off the water and out of the valley. A first painting on sanded paper. I enjoyed the way the sanded paper held the pastel and had little dusting like on the pastel papers.
