About Harriett (Bratton) Masterson

As a child, my favorite pastimes were reading, sketching and painting. A High School art teacher, Diane Hopkins really inspired and encouraged me.
For many years, I was sketching, painting and dreaming, grabbing moments and times when children were at rest or after they went to bed at night. I began taking seminars and studying with some artists, eventually focusing almost full-time on developing my skills. As a Christian, I believe God gives people talents that need to be developed with His help and guidance. The artistic climate of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho is a perfect place to do so for me.

Along the way I studied with Nona Sicola, a Houston palette knife artist, 1972; Greg Conlin, a portrait and court artist, Lancaster,Texas, 1994-95 (his influence is clearly seen in "Ms Louise"- be sure to have a look at her on an earlier post); recently a class with Wes Hanson, 2006; 2008, workshop w/Linda Besse, nationally known wildlife artist. Continually taking workshops like the one with Lee Kromschroeder or Katherine Gill and Bob Phinney.
