Fernan Curiosity

11"x14" Pastel
Original in Private Collection
Prints Available

My brother and sister-in-law were visiting Coeur d'Alene and enjoying the sight-seeing all around. After viewing little Fernan Lake, we were on our way out of the neighborhood when we saw two deer bounding behind our van. After crossing the road, they turned to stare at us. He snapped the picture and it turned out well, but the deer were so much in shadow that I had to use the Free Reference Library at WetCanvas.com to get some details of the face and ears. Also decided that one deer would be enough for this painting which is now in a private collection. This is a scene one sees regularly here in our area. Homes have invaded wildlife areas and the wildlife sticks around, which is fun, but not very good for the deer.
